Forcepoint Cements Investment in Human-Centric Cybersecurity in Cork, Ireland

Cybersecurity leader continues recruitment and moves to new office to support staff focusing on software development and cybersecurity innovation

CORK, Ireland – March 13, 2019 – Global cybersecurity leader Forcepoint today moved to its permanent office for its Center of Excellence in Cork, Ireland. The investment, supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland, continues to focus on new product development in the cloud and endpoint cybersecurity technology space.

Forcepoint Cork has already welcomed over 70 members of staff and is still recruiting software engineers and product managers, with plans to add up to 100 more heads in these areas in 2019. The permanent Cork City-based office is located in a purpose-built new building, 85 South Mall. The investment runs across three years, having started in Q1 2018 when the first Forcepoint Cork office opened.

Leo Clancy, Global Head of Technology in IDA Ireland said: “The continued investment and growth by Forcepoint in Cork cements the city’s place as a growing centre of both technology and cybersecurity expertise. With nearly 100 quality jobs at Forcepoint in this first year of operations, we warmly welcome the innovative software companies continuing to develop and grow the highly skilled workforce here.”

Forcepoint has just announced a new Forcepoint Converged Security Platform which accelerates organizations’ digital transformation journey by enabling secure migration of data, applications, and business operations to the cloud. The team in Cork has played a critical role in the creation of the new, innovative converged security platform, which addresses the business-critical need CISOs have today for consolidated, cloud-based security solutions in a deployment agnostic delivery model.

“The Cork Center of Excellence has already demonstrated its importance in the development and operation of market-leading endpoint security, cloud services and applications, as we enable enterprises to transform their security architectures,” said David Coffey, VP Engineering at Forcepoint. “The beautiful purpose-built offices at 85 South Mall are a fitting home for the strong engineering talent here in Ireland.”

Forcepoint is transforming the fundamental approach to cybersecurity by understanding the behavior of users as they interact with critical data and intellectual property across global IT systems. This enables customers to take advantage of dynamic one-to-one security controls applied to individuals based on the risk their digital activity presents to the organization, and ensures security operations are more effective and efficient.

The Center of Excellence in Cork will join other Forcepoint facilities around the globe, leveraging diverse security talent to drive innovation and develop security capabilities that uniquely adapt to security risks whether they are in the cloud or on the network.

Derek Murphy leads the team in Cork as the senior director of software engineering at the Center, responsible for the vision and leadership of the cloud platform and the engineering teams, as well as leading and expanding the organization of development and QA managers, technical leads, developers and testers.
